| So here I go again, I've tried blogging before on other sites, but didn't really like the format. We'll see how it goes this time. Also I'm hoping to stay in touch with a few people who use this site. A quick background, last summer I moved from Texas to the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, my profile says Pueblo because it wouldn't let me fill it in, but I live in the small town of Westcliffe, about an hour drive west of Pueblo. Needless to say, winter has been a new experience this year. I learned how to snowboard and had a lot of fun for the most part, working at a camp in the winter has it's challenges, but over all it has been an enjoyable experience ... An experience that I thought had ended about a month ago, but apparently not. Tuesday morning I woke up to the sounds of beeping of electronics as the power flickered several times before turning off indefinately. I heard voices in the front room of the staff house where I live, so I walked out to see what was going on. As I looked out the window my eyes were assaulted by a blank canvas of white. That's right a Blizzard in late April. Now, I know they have had worse snows this late in the season, but 3 feet of snow accompanied by the power going out FOR THE ENTIRE TOWN is kind of unexpected. All that to say, the snow was fun and all, but I'm ready for it to be over, it's getting old already. Growing up in Houston, TX, we didn't have "snow days" we had a few "flooding days" and one or two "ice days" but this week was the first time I've ever had an official "snow day" excuse from work/school. |
